'Treat game'

Mary Prior KC, handling the case, described the defendant's actions to the legal proceedings.

She stated his victims were children from difficult backgrounds who were attending a summer program which he managed.

The man played a "candy game" with the children, Mrs Prior stated, in which he would enter the children's bedrooms when they were settling down and tell them to eat sweets "as quickly as they can".

She informed the proceedings the man had played this game with the children "over an extended period", and children had previously become sick the subsequent day.

She explained the defendant had been successful in rationalizing this repeatedly as the children being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepchild had suspicions in July 2025.

The prosecutor continued: "This year his family member had concerns about the activities, justifiably.

"They decided to examine in the individual's items."

The prosecutor stated materials including baby oil, ointment and syringes were located, and his family member alerted the law enforcement about his suspicions.

She said the defendant continued to play the "sweet game" with six children that night - July 26th - and they were all ill the subsequent day.

"Law enforcement" had not arrived by that point," she added.

The police watchdog, the investigative body, earlier informed that it was reviewing the police response of the events.

The legal representative said the minors were unable to walk properly due to their sickness, so the family member called the police once more.

She said the defendant then engaged in the "sweet game" in a area of five youngsters.
